A: Our typical customer is an Oil & Gas Industry participant – including downhole tool suppliers, rental tool companies, wellhead and pressure control service companies, and a variety of other service providers.
Our typical customer has been doing business with us for several years, and utilizes Applied Industrial Machining as a primary source of contract manufacturing, machining services, or repair/refurbishment work. These long-term relationships are built on our ability to consistently deliver high-quality output and deliver on the commitments we make. With established customers, we are able to effectively plan machine time and shop capacity, and also add value through a working knowledge of our customers’ needs and requirements.
A: Yes, we have available capacity in our machining/manufacturing facility. We operate three shifts, including weekends, in order to create necessary capacity. With proper planning and notice, we can handle significant additional customer volume.
A: Our lead times are based on a variety of factors, including current shop loads, material availability, and job requirements – consequently there is no standard or typical lead time. Having served the oilfield for 25+ years, we understand quick turnaround requirements.
For existing customers, we can generally accommodate required lead times. Most of our customers take up a consistent/predictable portion of our shop capacity, and can therefore be involved in the prioritization of jobs and timing to some degree.
We quote lead times for our customers that are as aggressive as any machine shop/contract manufacture in the region, and more importantly we pride ourselves on the accuracy and reliability of those lead times. The only requests we historically cannot meet are those of new, one-time customers that “absolutely, must have delivery tomorrow” for a single part or job. These requests often conflict with our commitment to our long-term customers and ability to serve them well.
A: Yes. Applied Industrial Machining thread thousands of pipe joints, subs, and other parts each year. We thread standard API connections and maintain certified thread gauges. We are also a licensed provider of threading services for VAM Drilling’s proprietary VX threads.
A: Yes. We work with several customers as they refine part designs in a prototyping process. This is typically an interactive process where our shop leaders are helping the customer create the optimal design by advising on the machining and manufacturing aspects involved.
A: Applied Industrial Machining’s customer base is national; therefore the parts we make and refurbish are shipped and utilized in all the major North American Oil & Gas fields, and beyond. Our central location and access to key Interstates enables efficient transportation of parts. We regularly work with logistics and transportation companies, including hotshot providers, to get parts to the necessary locations.
